70s Revival Music – Blast From the Past

28/04/2016 by Anastasia Kingsley Leave a Comment

Jimi Hendrix Revival Band

The 61, a Croatian band from Zadar, has recently recorded a new demo DVD.  With front man Zoran Torić on the guitar, Mladen Barešić on the drums and Zoran Rudić on bass guitar, all three know their music.  They specialize in the music of great Blues and Rock legends Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.  Here is clip called “Hear My Train A Comin'”.  You can find them on You Tube under “the 61” and if you really love them, feel free to subscribe.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the great R&B riffs!

Zadar Airport Connections – 2016

19/04/2016 by Anastasia Kingsley Leave a Comment

The Paul Simon song “Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover” comes to mind.  This is a happier theme – 50 ways to get to Zadar!

Zadar was voted “Best European Destination” for 2016 –  quite an honor!

As the weather finally stabilizes and the warmer days grow to 7.30 pm sunsets, it’s  no wonder that I have begun hearing from my European guests.  The first question is “can you reccommend a good way to get to Croatia” or “…to Zadar”?

Well there are many ways!  Bus, train, ferry, private car – all have their advantages, or a combination may work well.  I personally love to wander, but wandering can be costly.  Air travel is fastest, which means less time eating out etc., and that also factors into the traveling cost equation.

Here is a super duper handy dandy link showing the flights in and out of Zadar this season.   Being centrally located, it’s a good starting point for a European vacation or exploring the Balkan Peninsula, Game of Throne tour #GOT and you can even head to western Europe with a direct overnight ferry from Zadar to Ancona.  Here’s the map… click on the air carrier name and the routes become visible:

BTW, If you like this Blog, I will be installing a MailChimp link soon so you can receive it automatically to your mail inbox.  I am still figuring it out, so once it’s launched, I will let you know.

Happy Trip Planning— and once you get here, it will be DOBRO DOSAO (or Welcome)!

Walk Around the Clock!

11/04/2016 by Anastasia Kingsley Leave a Comment

We are in the shoulder season.. and the sportsmen and women of Europe have arrived!

Bicyclists from the Czech Republic.. lots of international tourists of all ages who want to take advantage of the cooler – than – summer weather to ride along bike trails, visit national parks, try their hand at kayaking, and just investigate Dalmatia.

On May 1st there will be a bike marathon held in nearby Pakostane.

All around Lake Vrana (Vransko Jezero in Croatian) there are 14 km of bike trails – some are dirt trails, well worn with lots of usage, others are paved.  Many visitors from northern European countries come here in groups to train and enjoy the first sneak preview of Spring.

May 1st Bike Race – Lake Vrana

A local bike course.. with a special race just for kids 🙂

Wings for Life World Run in ZADAR

(only 300 entries left..) For more serious runners, this race is held internationally on May 8th, in order to raise funds for handicapped people all over the world.  Click on the link for more details!

As you can tell  by the shade of blue hues in the water behind us, the natural beauty here is uncommonly beautiful.

With a few long weekends in store try to get some time to enjoy it before the crowds arrive.  For example, May 1 is European “labor day”, May 26th is a Catholic holiday (Tijelovo, or Corpus Christi) as well as two bonus days in June – both 22nd and 25th are national holidays.  Combine it with a day off, and try to create a mini vacation in this exceptional season (which many prefer to the summer crowds!)

I like to reccomend my friend Natasha’s super agency if you get the urge to book or want to just get more information.. Val Tours Biograd

Let’s put on some good quality tennies and Walk around the Clock!

Keep On Truckin’

04/04/2016 by Anastasia Kingsley Leave a Comment

I have just discovered the philosophy of life from a kind hearted southern gentleman.

KEEP ON TRUCKIN’!

That about sums things up, doesn’t it?  Get up, show up, suit up.. and – KEEP ON TRUCKIN’!

As a teenager I heard if you go to school and just listen to the teacher you can pass with a C.  So I guess it’s fair to say just keep going, everything will resolve itself along the way.

Have a beautiful day!

Me and the Old Man (ha ha) bought a large and comfy Plymouth Voyager last fall.. 7 seats in all, including the driver cuz the kids are getting big and we usually have plenty of gear (musical or otherwise) to lug around.

Well, duh, it dawned on us – we can also take people from here to there while we are at it!

Here is our flyer… rates are competitive (basically we will beat whatever other offer you have) and since we are located dead center in Croatia let’s just say we can manage almost any destination.

Click on the link below for contact information.
